Large-scale operation in Tyrol – hotel in flames: guests and employees evacuated!

Fire alarm on Saturday night in the Tyrolean lowlands: A fire broke out in a room in a hotel in Kirchberg (Kitzbühel district), which consequently spread rapidly. Due to the smoke, guests and employees had to be evacuated using a turntable ladder. Several people – including a firefighter – had to go to the hospital.

According to police, the fire broke out in a room shortly before 1 a.m. – the flames then spread further. At this point there were still around 30 people in the hotel. Due to the enormous amount of smoke, they were no longer able to escape via the stairwell. A large contingent of emergency services arrived. “While the first fire-fighting attacks were carried out via the main entrance, the people on the balcony were evacuated at the same time using turntable ladders and ladders,” say the investigators.
