larger screen, thinner design, this is what Samsung plans

Samsung could release its Galaxy Z Fold 6 in a Slim version, thinner, but without support for the S Pen stylus. The diagonal of the main screen would also be larger.

While leaks over the past few weeks have given us a detailed look at what the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will look like, news of a second model with a different design is gaining more and more traction. It is the turn of renowned analyst Ross Young to point to the existence of such a device, he who specializes in the screen industry for technological products.

In a first message, he mentions a “Samsung Fold 6 Slim”. He then specifies that this is not the commercial name of the smartphone, but that it is a good way to refer to it while waiting to know more. Responding to an Internet user on X, he believes that the South Korean brand could opt for the name “Z Fold 6 Ultra”.

S Pen compatibility sacrificed

This new iteration of the folding smartphone would be equipped with a larger screen than the standard Z Fold 6. The internal display of the latter should not change compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and would therefore measure 7.6 inches diagonally. This Z Fold 6 Slim would therefore be more imposing than these 7.6 inches, but we do not yet know to what extent.

Another major change, the terminal would be thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which must already lose a few mm of thickness once folded compared to its predecessor. To do this, Samsung would remove the component allowing the smartphone screen to be compatible with the S Pen. As a result, users who do not need a stylus can benefit from a thinner mobile phone that is more convenient to handle and store.

Finally, Ross Young thinks that the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim would be similar to that of the Z Fold 6. He specifies that production of the screens of this Slim model is planned for the last quarter of 2024. The Z Fold 6 Slim will not be released so not this summer at the same time as the main version. It could launch alongside the Galaxy S25 series, early next year.
