In the course of his long musical career, Lars Vogt has worked his way up from music student to chief conductor. Now the pianist is dead.
Mourning for Lars Vogt (1970-2022): The German pianist and conductor died on Monday, September 5th, at the age of 51. His agency Askonas Holt did known via Twitter given. Accordingly, the musician died peacefully at home in the “afternoon, surrounded by his family” after fighting cancer.
Vogt was born in Düren on September 8, 1970 and later completed his studies at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover. At the age of 20, Vogt secured second place at the Leeds International Piano Competition.
An impressive career
In this country he made a name for himself through performances with many famous symphony orchestras. In his long career, Vogt also had various performances abroad, such as Helsinki, Rome, America and the Far East. In 2003 he made his debut with the New York Philharmonic.
In 2012 he was given a professorship for piano at the university in Hanover where he had once studied. In 2019 he was appointed chief conductor of the Orchester de Chambre de Paris. He has held the post since July 2020.
Vogt has received several awards, including the Echo Klassik in the chamber music category in 2004, the Silver Tuning Fork in 2009 and the Opus Klassik in 2021.
The musician leaves behind his second wife, the Polish violinist Anna Reszniak, and three children.
