The request for the fuel allowance, which takes the form of aid of 100 euros subject to means, can still be made until Friday, March 31 inclusive.

Since the beginning of the year, 10 million of the poorest workers in the country have been eligible for payment of a fuel allowance of 100 euros. While the number of French people who have not yet taken the plunge is around 3 million, there is still time, yes! You have until Friday, March 31 (inclusive, useful precision) to claim this specific aid. We explain how.

It would be a shame not to take advantage of it, but who can claim this help?

Open since January 16, the request for a fuel allowance of 100 euros has been put in place by the government to allow the French to absorb the rising cost of gasoline. This aid also allows them to preserve their purchasing power as much as possible, at a time when the fuel discount of 10 euro cents per liter has ended (December 31, 2022).

Initially, this allowance was scheduled until February 28 before being finally extended until March 31. At the very beginning of the month, nearly half of eligible households had not yet applied. And precisely, how do you know if you are eligible for this aid? Your reference tax income (RFR) per unit must be less than 14,700 euros. In other words :

  • If you are a single person, your reference annual taxable income per unit must be less than 1,314 euros per month;
  • If you are a couple with one child, the RFR must be less than 3,285 euros per month;
  • If you are a single person with two children, the RFR must be less than 3,285 euros per month;
  • If you are a couple with two children, the RFR must be less than 3,941 euros per month;
  • And if you are a couple with three children, the RFR must be less than 5,255 euros per month.

It should be noted in passing that in the case where a household has two assets, their combined income must be taken into account. To qualify for assistance, you must use a vehicle for professional purposes (which includes commuting). And by vehicle, we also mean vehicles with two, three or four wheels, whether thermal or electric.

How to apply?

To proceed with the request, you must go to the tax website, at the address ict.impots.gouv.fr, and complete the form offered to you. As always, beware of scams and be careful to only go to official government sites. Remember to bring your tax number and the registration number of your vehicle. For the rest of the information (surname, first name, email, date of birth), you should be able to manage by talent.

Teasing aside, the tax department can accept one application per person, which means that a couple with modest incomes whose members each use their own vehicle to go to work can receive 2 x 100 euros, or 200 euros in total . If a household only benefits from one vehicle, only one aid may be allocated.

The tax authorities will then be responsible for paying the sum of 100 euros to the beneficiary, by bank transfer, in respect of income tax. You will know this by seeing the wording “Fuel Indemnity” on your account statement.
