Last minute gifts
Christmas DIY ideas for the festival
Looking for Christmas presents is stressful. But with little effort you can create individual gifts. Four last minute ideas.
Speculoos spread
For Christmas gourmets, speculoos is simply part of the Christmas season. So why not give away a little treat? How about a homemade speculoos spread? This spread combines the sweet, spicy taste of speculoos with a velvety consistency and can also be prepared vegan: fill a cup with crumbled speculoos cookies, add 250 grams of cream cheese or a plant-based spread alternative. Add 100 grams of powdered sugar and a pinch of cinnamon and mix all the ingredients together. Filled into a glass and decorated with a pine branch – and it’s a delicious gift for your loved ones.
bookmark
Book lovers will be happy about an individually designed bookmark. In addition, it also stimulates your own craft skills: cut out narrow strips from a selected paper and add a pattern or a personal greeting as desired. There are no limits to creativity: DIY bookmarks can also be designed with old newspaper or book pages, photos or old fabric scraps, making them a particularly sustainable gift.
Candles made from leftover wax
For a cozy atmosphere in the cold season, homemade candles made from old leftover wax are a popular idea to give others a little joy. To do this, melt the remains of previously used candles, attach a wick to a toothpick or something similar and place it in the middle of a container. If you don’t have a wick at home, you can also twist pure cotton yarn into a wick. Pour the liquid wax into the desired shape and add a scent to the liquid wax using essential oils if desired. For multiple colors, one layer of wax should always dry before the next. For example, a rainbow candle also works.
Bath salts
After all the hustle and bustle surrounding the holidays, relaxation is needed. With homemade bath salts, loved ones are given the gift of a little break that perfectly suits their own scent preferences. To do this, mix coarse sea salt with essential oils, dried flowers or herbs of your choice. Packed in pretty jars or bags, this gift provides well-deserved relaxation under the tree.
