Lasts all day! – “We stand with Ukraine”: benefit concert in Vienna

A “very big signal” for the people affected by the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine is to be set on March 19 in Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium: organizer and Nova Rock director Ewald Tatar announced an all-day benefit at a press conference on Tuesday -Concert under the motto “We stand with Ukraine”. Also present are “the spearheads of Austrian music”, a colourful, varied program intended to appeal to as many people as possible.

“It’s not a concert against something, but for peace and freedom and for the people who are suffering from the war in Ukraine,” emphasized Marco Wanda, frontman of the band Wanda, who will also be performing along with Bilderbuch and Seiler & Speer. Also there are Pizzera & Jaus, Mathea, Yung Hurn, Turbobier, Josh, Mavi Phoenix, Lisa Pac, Bibiza & Eli Preiss and Eazy. “The legend par excellence” will end the evening, as Tatar said: Kurt Ostbahn. Each performance should last around 20 to 30 minutes. Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen has promised to support the campaign with a speech on stage. “It is of immense importance to show those affected by the war that there are people out there who are thinking of them,” he said Volkshilfe Managing Director Erich Fenninger: “That encourages them.” At the same time, the event raises money for emergency aid. All proceeds go to Volkshilfe and “Neighbours in Need”. “We know what the people there need and bring the necessary relief supplies there directly,” says Fenninger. Hoping for a sold-out stadium Tatar had the idea for the open air when the Nova Rock Hall was being prepared for refugees again. “I thought we should actually send a bigger signal, not just make the hall available.” Tatar is hoping for a sold-out stadium with 40,000 to 45,000 visitors. Since it is an open-air event, visitors should feel safe, opined he, when asked about the Corona situation. Tatar concluded that the Nova Rock Encore in autumn proved that a safe event is possible.
