BFM Paris is expanding in Île-de-France. The local continuous news channel, created five years ago, changed its name on Tuesday, and is now called “BFM Paris Île-de-France”. “We have seen, over the years, that for our viewers, 17% were inhabitants of Paris, compared to 83% of Ile-de-France residents who do not live in Paris”, specifies Hervé Béroud, deputy general manager of Altice media, the parent company of BFM TV, in the show Media culture. This name change will also lead to some changes in the wording.
Do “a lot more about the other seven departments”
“We have decided to broaden our editorial line to always make Paris, of course, but a little less Paris and a lot more of the seven other departments of the region” Île-de-France, details Hervé Béroud at the microphone of Philippe Vandel , which indicates however that the television channel was already addressing the news around Paris. “But in recent months, we have stepped on the accelerator to move even faster, and that is reflected in concrete terms by this change of name”, explains the deputy general manager of Altice media.
Teams will travel for milestone events
Like the morning show presented by Tanguy de Lanlay, the BFM Paris Île-de-France teams travel to many towns in the region. “In fact, every inhabitant of Île-de-France, the 13 million, must tell themselves that the day something happens, downstairs from their home, BFM will be there”, explains Hervé Béroud.
The deputy managing director of Altice media insists on the quality of the teams’ travel: “BFM Paris Île-de-France will be there not only by sending a reporter to produce a live broadcast, but the channel will travel to this vast region very regularly. .” Hervé Béroud to list events, such as the anniversary of the Château de Fontainebleau in Seine-et-Marne or the 30th anniversary of Disneyland Paris, or significant, more “hot” current events. “The channel will travel with its presenters Tanguy de Lanlay and Marguerite Dumont to go into the field to meet the inhabitants of the region.”
