RTL presenter Laura Papendick raves about Monica Lierhaus’ upcoming TV comeback. The 52-year-old describes her as a “pioneer”.
The popular sports presenter Monica Lierhaus (52) will make her TV comeback on RTL this Thursday evening. Before the Europa League quarter-finals between Bayer Leverkusen and Union Sant-Gilloise (from 8:15 p.m. on RTL and in the stream on RTL +), moderator Laura Papenrick (34) talks to Lierhaus about her future projects at Cologne’s private broadcaster. Papendick now revealed to “RTL”.that she would look forward to the upcoming interview and described Lierhaus as a pioneer of her generation of presenters.
Laura Papendick: “No footballer interview so special”
“It feels like you can put any footballer up for an interview, which for me isn’t as special as with a Monica Lierhaus,” explained the 34-year-old, adding: “I’m not nervous, but there’s definitely a positive tension there .”
The RTL presenter made no secret of her admiration for her interlocutor: “Everyone knew that she did her job perfectly. She showed that women can do the job just as well as men because she was always perfectly prepared and never seemed overwhelmed.” Therefore, the former “Sportschau” presenter “paved the way for other women as a pioneer”.
The future activities of Monica Lierhaus at RTL
In June, Lierhaus will be reporting on the Special Olympics in Berlin for RTL. In addition to sports moderation on “RTL Aktuell”, the 52-year-old should accompany the athletes for various news and magazine formats.
