Laure Calamy stands out at the Venice Film Festival, facing Cate Blanchett and a star of Sex Education

After having shone at the Angoulême festival, Laura Calamy took the direction of Venice. Not for a romantic stay for this discreet (but cash) actress on her private life, but for another cinematographic event: the Mostra. She was expected in the Venetian city to defend the new feature film by Sébastien Marnier, The Origin of Evil. For the September 1, 2022 photo shoot in front of the canals, she bet on a look that clashed: dark blue jeans becoming, black wedge sandals, shirt tied in front of the navel and cap.

The 47-year-old Frenchwoman continues to make her way in French cinema, which now places her as an essential artist. Revealed for her role as secretary in the series Ten percent, she knew the consecration in 2021 for the film Antoinette in the Cévennes. With The Origin of Evil, she finds herself alongside Doria Tillier and Dominique Blanc in a luxurious villa by the sea, between suspicions and lies.

The 79th edition of the Mostra, whose jury is chaired by the sublime Julianne Moore, also welcomed the arrival of Cate Blanchett. The Australian star is in Venice to defend the feature film Tar, in which she plays a brilliant conductor. If for the evening red carpet she was standout in her Schiaparelli jumpsuit, her signature bold, sky-blue daytime look is Roksanda. Aimee Lou Wood, as fans of the series Sex Education haswill quickly recognize, is also one of the artists who came to Italy. Dressed in a Bella Freud polka dot dress, she presents the film Living in which she gives the reply to the indescribable Bill Nighy, alias the disillusioned singer of Love Actually.

Finally, we will mention the warm appearance of filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. The one to whom we owe the Revenant is at the Mostra with his family: he posed with his wife María Eladia Hagerman as well as their two children María Eladia and Eliseo. His work revealed is Bardo, False Chronicles of Some Truths co-written with Nicolás Giacobone, with whom he had already collaborated on Biutiful and birdmanand brought to light by Darius Khondji (The City of Lost Children, Seven…). A promising team whose work will be visible on Netflix.
