The former secretary general of the CFDT Laurent Berger will join Crédit Mutuel to set up a center of expertise dedicated to “the climate and environmental revolution”, the mutual banking group announced on Tuesday as part of a project evolution of its governance.

This Crdit Mutuel Alliance Fdrale Institute will be directly attached to general management and entrusted to Laurent Berger who joined the group on September 15 and will have to lead the mission of prefiguring this institute, so that it will be operational in spring 2024, said Crdit Mutuel Alliance Federal in a press release.

The production of this center of expertise will be used by the operational teams, while respecting their responsibilities, added the group.

Laurent Berger, who left the head of the CFDT in June, is close to Nicolas Théry, president of Crdit Mutuel Alliance Fdrale and himself a former member of the CFDT where he held the position of federal secretary in charge of economic issues for two years. between 2000 and 2002.

Furthermore, the group announced that its general director Daniel Baal will take over as chairman of the board of directors of CIC on January 1, 2024, and will thus become the new manager of this bank, a subsidiary of Crdit Mutuel.
