After unveiling her title “L’Exil” on April 8, based on her grandmother’s story, the singer decided to launch a podcast dedicated to the subject, EXILS.
The term exile is broad, and concerns many people around the world. Laurie Darmon, in her eponymous title, evokes that “experienced by her maternal grandmother who came from Egypt”. “What Orient is she talking to us about, the pretty lady with memories, when she tells of her youth, on the old port of Alexandria”, can we hear in particular at the beginning of the title.
One guest per week
This piece is not an end but the starting point of a podcast that gives voice to public figures around this theme. Each episode is devoted to a personality (Rachida Brakni, Marina Foïs, Ibrahim Maalouf, Gad Elmaleh, Lisa Azuelos, Felix Moati…) who recounts the exile she experienced or that her family experienced.
Many related subjects are mentioned: “love, travel, pleasure, sorrow”… For all, the origins have – consciously or not – participated in “making the success, the singularity and the audacity which characterize them in the ‘collective imagination’.
The originality of this podcast also lies in the fact of bringing the song to life throughout the episodes, “declining the musical theme of it like a punctuation that punctuates the thread of confidences, making each episode a hybrid work of 20-30 minutes, at the crossroads of the interview and the audio short film”.
