Lausanne with a break in game 3 – Riat and Rochette shock superior Freiburgers – Sport

Lausanne made the break in the semi-final series against Fribourg-Gottéron. After the hard-fought home win in the third extra time on Wednesday, the Vaudois team won Game 3 away from home 2-0. Damien Riat scored the groundbreaking first goal. The striker skilfully powered through in the 45th minute and beat Reto Berra in the near corner. The Freiburg keeper didn’t look good.

Rochette makes the decision with a shorthander

The hosts, who had been superior for a long time, needed some time to recover from this setback. But the equalizer should have come in the 54th minute. Chris DiDomenico outplayed Lausanne goalkeeper Connor Hughes, but then failed to get the puck past the Lausanne goalkeeper.

A little later, the Freiburg team had the opportunity to equalize the game. But things turned out differently. After winning a duel against DiDomenico, Michael Raffl, outnumbered, made his way to the left side and passed across to Théo Rochette. He took the shot straight away and made the decision 2-0.

Freiburg dominates and is unlucky

In the first two thirds there was little to suggest that Lausanne would be successful. Although the Vaudois played very stably defensively, they lacked penetration on offense. Freiburg dominated the game, after 40 minutes the shooting ratio was 25:9 for the hosts. However, nothing worthwhile resulted from the superiority and several good opportunities.

And when the disc finally found its way into the goal, disillusionment immediately followed. After a Freiburg finish, Hughes was unable to block the target and Nathan Marchon pushed it over the line. Because referee Daniel Stricker had already mistakenly interrupted the game, the goal didn’t count – bad luck for the hosts.

The Freiburg team were also the dominant team in the final third with a score of 13:8, but the Lausanne team scored the goals. Coach Christian Dubé’s team has the chance to react on Monday. Then game 4 of the series is on the program in Lausanne.
