A man was fatally injured in Lauterbrunnen on Wednesday evening. The emergency services, who were alerted shortly after 8 p.m., met a 69-year-old Swiss man with serious injuries on site. The cantonal police in Bern announced that it was only possible to determine his death.

The police assume that the wife inflicted the fatal injuries on the mayor. The alleged perpetrator was arrested a few hours later in the Lauterbrunnen area after a search, the police said.
