Overtime madness on the Betzenberg

Everything looks as if 1. FC Heidenheim could use HSV’s renewed mistake and pull away in the promotion race. With a 0:2 lead, the Swabians go into injury time against 1. FC Kaiserslautern – but shortly afterwards the whole Betzenberg trembles.
1. FC Heidenheim carelessly gave away two points in the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga. Two strong minutes are enough for Kaiserslautern to wrest a point from the Brenz team in a 2-2 draw. Actually, everything was set for the Swabians’ three, who had 100 percent control of the action in the second round: goalscorer Tim Kleindienst (53rd minute) and Florian Pick (75th) scored for the guests.
This was followed by spectacular stoppage time with a surprising outcome: Kleindienst started the game and put a penalty kick on the post (90′ + 2′). That was to take fatal revenge only a short time later: Nicolas de Preville (90′ + 3) in direct return and Philipp Hercher (90′ + 5) snatched the three-pointer from Heidenheim and caused the home fans among the 41,543 spectators on the Betzenberg to tremble .
For the FCH there are two lost points. Since the direct competitor HSV only played 2-2 against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Friday evening, everything looked as if the Brenz team could pull away from Hamburg to within three points. So it stays one point ahead. 1. FC Heidenheim is still second in the table with 51 points, followed by HSV in third place. 1. FC Kaiserslautern is in seventh place with 40 points.
SV Darmstadt, who won 0-1 in Nuremberg on Friday evening, pulled away this weekend. The Hessians are relatively comfortably at the top of the table with 55 points. With the ninth win in a row, FC St. Pauli was also able to make up ground and as a new fourth in the table with 44 points is now only six points behind HSV and seven behind 1. FC Heidenheim. The players from Millerntor meet the latter next weekend for the top game of the 2nd Bundesliga.
