The law has a few interesting details to offer: For example, it does not only apply to contracts concluded after July 1, 2022. The only relevant factor is whether an offer can be completed online or not. Even if you buy a subscription over the phone, you can cancel it online if you can get it online.
However, rental or employment contracts are exempt from the law, because written notice of termination is required for these contracts on the basis of other statutory regulations. Financial services contracts are also excluded.
The legislator even prescribes the design of the cancellation button: a clearly designed button with an unambiguous wording such as “Cancel contracts here” is required. An overview page with details is also mandatory so that customers know exactly what they are cancelling. Companies must confirm receipt of the notice of termination in a timely manner.
