The NBC series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” will start in September 2022 with its 24th season in the USA. To reward the fans’ loyalty over the years, there will be a three-hour “Law & Order” special with all investigative teams at the start of the season. But now actress Kelli Giddish spoils the anticipation with the announcement of her imminent departure.
Giddish has been an integral part of “Law & Order: SVU” and the team around Lieutenant Olivia Benson since Season 13 in her role as Detective Amanda Rollins. But now, after more than 12 years, it’s over! Over the coming season 24 we will have to say goodbye to Giddish.
In an interview with the online magazine TVLine, the “Amanda Rollins” actress now addresses the rumors already circulating on the Internet and confirms that her character is about to leave.
Giddish emphasizes that she feels very fortunate to have had the privilege of playing such a great character for such a long time. She was allowed to grow and change along with her character. She has learned a great deal over the entire 12 years and is now looking forward to taking all this experience with her into her further professional future.
Exactly how and when Amanda Rollins will turn in her badge and leave the Law & Order: SVU team for good is still unclear. What is very certain, however, is that Rollins’ departure will certainly hit the entire team hard – especially Dominick Carisi, with whom Rollins was last romantically involved.
