Lawyer lives in a tent – “Forest Woman” attacked Steirer (73) with a Stanley knife

A homeless lawyer who lives in a tent in the forest in eastern Styria is said to have pursued a walker with a Stanley knife. “He bothered me,” she explained at the trial in Graz. The victim – a hard of hearing 73-year-old – saved himself to neighbors. The 50-year-old is mentally seriously ill and has been admitted.

The 50-year-old lived on the streets of Vienna for four years. “But only in winter,” she tells judge Elisabeth Juschitz. “In the summer I cycled around and looked at things.” Last autumn she returned to her home in East Styria. “I wanted to settle down.” However, she didn’t go home, but into the forest. “I wanted to spend another winter outdoors.” “I felt very provoked” Between the trees she camped in a hanging tent – with the permission of the forest owner. “What happened that day?” The judge sensitively questions the woman. “I just pulled a tarpaulin over my tent.” – “You had a Stanley knife in your hand?” – “Yes, to cut the cords.” Suddenly a man was there: “Why aren’t you moving in with your relatives?” he would have asked. She felt very provoked. The 50-year-old ran after him with the knife in her hand and stabbed in his direction. “I was very scared,” says the hard of hearing 73-year-old, who went to get his mail. “She was very angry. I didn’t expect the reaction.” He escaped to neighbors who alerted the police. “The situation was already threatening because of the screams and the knife,” they describe. “It’s very sad to be locked up.” “Do you have an explanation for the fact that the victim was afraid?” the judge asks the lawyer. “I guess because I screamed out loud.” But she would have felt bothered and also afraid. “I just wanted my peace.” She is not ill, “at least that’s what I thought so far”. The fact that she should remain locked up makes her very sad. Expert Manfred Walzl sees a great risk of recurrence without treatment The Styrian asked for three days to think about it, the decision is not final.
