Layered Hair – the hair end is back

We wouldn't wear the hair trends from back then today – or would we? Here comes the proof!

We bet almost every woman has had a step cut. And if you remember now, you will know: It didn't always look good. Super short, fringed strands on the top of the head – preferably still teased. What used to be a total trend, we would probably no longer wear today. At least not like that anymore …

So now we wear layered hair

The tiered cut is back – and to be honest, more beautiful than ever. They are subtle and give our hair that certain something. From now on you don't have to be afraid if your hairdresser says: "How about a few steps?"

The term steps can of course be understood very broadly. Usually the hair is a little shorter on top and also has different lengths in the hair lengths. In the meantime, however, hair professionals tend to leave the layers a little longer so that the transitions look really soft and natural.

Who does layered hair suit?

The nice thing about the 2020 step cut – it fits every hair type. Of course, keep in mind that layers CAN make your hair look thinner. But that's not a must. Due to the longer, soft layers, even thin hair types have the advantage that they are not so visually thinned out. It's best to ask a professional about this. Curly heads in particular benefit from the step cut. "Layers make the hair look less triangular and make the face longer," explains hairstylist Paul Edmonds to our colleagues at 'Who What Wear' in the interview. However: levels will make the curls work even more. Make sure to keep that in mind.

Otherwise, the soft levels work for almost all hair lengths. That's the beauty of it! By the way, they look particularly beautiful with the right styling: just curl the tips of the hair a little bit inwards (preferably with the straightening iron). So the look looks a bit like a hair dryer. Super cool!
