Lazard Frères Gestion launches its first Private Equity fund of funds

(Boursier.com) — Lazard Frères Gestion announces the launch of “Lazard Private
Equity Selection 1″. Managed by Jérôme Sibony, Head of the Private Equity offering at Lazard Frères Gestion, this fund provides access to a selection of European and American Leveraged Buy Out (LBO) funds and secondary funds distinguished by their quality of their management.

Lazard Frères Gestion, already present for many years in the equity, bond and diversified management segments, is now extending its expertise to private equity investment. The company is thus launching its “Lazard Private Equity Selection 1” fund, open to subscriptions since the end of 2023.

The fund is mainly aimed at the private clients of Lazard Frères Gestion, who have for several years shown a growing interest in this market segment, implying a long-term investment horizon.

Lazard Private Equity Selection 1 will invest in a limited number of European and American Private Equity funds which stand out for the quality of their management, in particular by their capacity for operational transformation of portfolio companies, their proactive approach to originating transactions, their operational excellence and their deployment discipline.

Question of balance

The selection process favors a balance between generalist and specialist LBO and secondary funds, and focuses on management companies that have demonstrated their ability to regularly generate performances above the sector average.

The fund is managed by Jérôme Sibony, Head of the Private Equity offering at Lazard Frères Gestion since 2022. He started his career in 2004 at Activa Capital, before joining GE Capital in 2007. From 2012 to 2022, he worked in the field of Private Equity in London at NEO Investment Partners LLP, then at Stanhope Capital from 2014. He graduated from HEC Paris.

Lazard Frères Gestion plans to launch other similar funds in the future, so as to regularly offer new vintages. The investment target may also be extended to other types of unlisted assets.
