Since the end of last year, some LCL customers have been victims of embezzlement.

In total, more than 300,000 euros were allegedly embezzled through a practice that still remains very mysterious.

The LCL at the heart of a vast scam?

For several months now, LCL customers have been victims of embezzlement of money from their bank account. Transfers very often, unsolicited by customers of course, which sometimes range from 1,000 to 20,000 or 30,000 euros. Others have seen their account debited by tens of thousands of euros, again for a transaction that was never requested. According to the LCL, it is very often the customers who have been able to provide, sometimes despite themselves, their connection information.

However, according to Zataz, some hackers, specializing in cyber-attacks on banking applications, would be able to read customer information using a simple bug in the banking application, intended for customers. In a few seconds, they manage to access a lot of valuable information.

At present, it is difficult to know precisely what type of scam is hitting the LCL. It will be necessary to determine if the victims were the target of a phishing campaign, or if their banking information was stolen despite all the vigilance of the latter. always according to Zataz, some important financial transactions would have been carried out between France and an Eastern country. So distrust.
