Le Dîner de cons: “He doesn’t have a first name?”, “It was your sister”, the best lines of the film

This Sunday, June 26, TF1 rebroadcasts the cult Dinner of idiots from 9:05 p.m. In this 1990 film, the characters offered several replicas that have remained legendary.

There are films that will have marked the history of French cinema. And the Dîner de cons is one of them. Released in cinemas in 1998, this film by Francis Veber immediately found its audience. As proof, he was the 2nd biggest card of the year in France, behind the untouchable titanicwith over 9 million admissions at the box office. More than twenty years after its release, Le Dîner de cons remains a cult film for many. Viewers will therefore be delighted to (re) see it this Sunday, June 26 on the TF1 antenna from 9:05 p.m. In addition to the particularly neat casting, they will be able to find replicas that have become legendary. Starting with this dialogue between Jacques Villeret and Thierry Lhermitte: “His name is Juste Leblanc. – Really, he doesn’t have a first name? – I just told you, Juste Leblanc… Your first name is François, is that correct? Well, he is the same, it is Right”.

The characters embodied by the two actors, François Pignon and Pierre Brochant, also offered other cult lines to the spectators. Like this one : “It was your sister. – I don’t have a sister. – You don’t have a sister? I told her who is on the phone, and she said: ‘his sister’. – He has called Marlène! – Isn’t that your sister? – That’s her name, Sasseur. Marlène Sasseur. – I couldn’t know, me. She said to me: ‘It’s Marlène Sasseur’. Admit that it’s confusing “. It will also be difficult to forget the “winner’s head” now entered into everyday language or sentences “He’s cute Mr. Pignon, he’s mean Mr. Brochant” delivered by Thierry Lhermitte and “you are hard to see, you look like a horse that has missed a hedge, you would be shot on a racetrack”by Jacques Villeret.

Cons dinner: who played the role of Pierre Brochant in the theater?

Carried by Jacques Villeret and Thierry Lhermitte, this feature film is an adaptation of the successful play of the same name by Francis Veber. The director himself adapted it for the cinema. If the late Jacques Villeret kept his role of François Pignon, the character of Pierre Brochant, embodied by Claude Brasseur on the boards, returned to Thierry Lhermitte and Daniel Prévost replaced Gérard Hernandez to embody Lucien Cheval. Nominated six times at the 24th César ceremony in 1999, the Dîner de con won three awards : that of the best actor for Jacques Villeret, that of the best actor in a supporting role for Daniel Prévost and that of the best original screenplay or adaptation for Francis Veber.
