Firefox passes version 122.0: improvements and new features
Mozilla recently unveiled version 122.0 of Firefox, marking notable advancements in user experience and web compatibility. This update introduces the display of images and descriptions for search suggestions, a notable improvement in the quality of web page translations, and increased support for iCloud Passkeys on macOS. For web developers, Firefox now offers MDN Web Docs article suggestions directly in the address bar. Additionally, support for new CSS standards and improved compatibility for East and Southeast Asian languages strengthen the browsing experience. Finally, Firefox introduces a new .deb package for users of Debian-based distributions.

Chrome 121: new AI and personalization features
Google Chrome 121, still rolling out, incorporates AI-based features, transforming the user experience. The new tab organizer tool uses AI to automatically suggest tab groups, making it easier to manage multiple tasks. THE Theme Maker, leveraging a text-to-image streaming model, allows users to create custom themes for the New Tab page. Finally, functionality Help me write offers writing assistance, with options to customize the length and tone of suggested content.

Apple announces sideloading… and Fortnite returns to iOS in Europe.
Epic Games has announced the return of Fortnite to iOS in Europe in 2024, thanks to the upcoming opening of the Epic Games Store for iOS. This return follows Apple’s recently announced changes under the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA) allowing sideloading and third-party app stores on iOS. Apple will therefore allow the downloading of applications from sources outside its official App Store, while maintaining an approval process for these alternative stores. This development represents a major step in the ecosystem of iOS applications in Europe.
Brave improves its AI assistant Leo and redesigns Brave News
Brave has updated its AI browser assistant, Brave Leo, with a focus on privacy. Leo now integrates Mistral AI’s Mixtral 8x7B language model, improving responses to complex queries and providing multilingual support. For Premium users, additional options like Claude Instant from Anthropic and Llama 2 from Meta are available. At the same time, Brave News has undergone an overhaul to improve the user experience, offering a simplified interface, increased personalization, and a “For You” section based on user interests, while maintaining privacy.
