League of Legends: a big change for the MMO, fans will have to be very patient

Riot Games no longer content with developing its free-to-play MOBA League of Legends, it extends its franchise to several games, even several media. Unfortunately, the studio was hit by a big wave of layoffs, Riot Forge has closed its doors, but several titles still remain in development.

If the fighting game 2XKO has already had the right to a lot of information, this is not the case for MMO Project F. The title remains very mysterious, Riot is not talkative and things are not going to get better. Marc Merrill, the co-founder of the studio, spoke on X (ex-Twitter) in order to announce A reboot of Project Fin order to offer a MMO more innovative in the universe of Runeterra :

Hey everyone – We know many of you are hungry for news about Riot Games’ MMO project, and we really appreciate your patience and the incredible support you’ve given us so far. I am writing to you today to inform you of the current situation. And before everyone panics: yes, we are still working on the game.

After much thought and discussion, we decided to reorient the project some time ago. This decision was not easy, but it was necessary. The initial vision just wasn’t different enough from what you can play today.

We don’t think you all want an MMO you’ve already played with a coat of Runeterra paint; To truly do justice to Runeterra’s potential and meet the incredibly high expectations of players around the world, we need to do something that really looks like a significant evolution of the genre.

This is a huge challenge, but one that our team of deeply passionate MMO players and game development veterans are incredibly motivated to tackle.

With this new direction, I’m excited to introduce Fabrice Condominas as the MMO’s new executive producer. Fabrice’s experience as a gamer and his passion for creating immersive worlds are extraordinary. Having led large projects at Riot, BioWare and EA, he brings a fresh perspective and a shared commitment to excellence that will guide our team as we continue this challenging journey.

We started laying the groundwork for this pivot some time ago and over the last year, under the leadership of Vijay Thakkar, we’ve built key pieces of the technical foundation to create the type of ambitious game we’re talking about . We are grateful for Vijay’s leadership and that he will now be part of the game’s management team as Technical Director.

Resetting our development trajectory also means that we will “sink” for a long time, probably several years. This silence will allow the team to focus on the incredible amount of work ahead of them. We understand the excitement and anticipation surrounding new information, but we ask for your trust during this silent phase.

Do not forget that ” No news, good news “because it means we’re working hard, pouring our hearts and souls into creating something we hope you’ll love.

Thank you for believing in us and for your patience. We are incredibly committed to this mission and look forward to the adventure that awaits us and the stories we will tell together.

The director was therefore replaced and Riot Games will remain silent for a long time in order to get off to a good start. League of Legends fans will therefore have to wait for probably a few years before discovering this MMO Until then, you can find Riot Points on Amazon And there Fnac.
