The Lebanese National News Agency (ANI) and journalists from Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported on Monday dozens of Israeli strikes against southern and eastern Lebanon, after the Israeli army announced upcoming strikes against Hezbollah in the south of the country.

The ANI announced that “enemy warplanes had launched (…) “More than 80 airstrikes in half an hour”targeting areas in southern Lebanon, at the same time as “intense raids in the Bekaa Valley”in the east of the country. AFP reported intense strikes in the south and east of the country.

These strikes killed a “civilian (…) and injured two members of his family” as well as four other people, ANI added.

On October 8, 2023, Hezbollah opened a front against Israel in ” support “ to Hamas, vowing to continue attacking “until the end of the aggression in Gaza”.

The Israeli government now includes among its war aims the return to northern Israel of tens of thousands of residents who fled because of Hezbollah fire. “We are determined to ensure that the people of the north can return home safely. No country can tolerate shooting at its people, at its cities, and we will not tolerate it either.”Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday.
