Excel took quite an intriguing decision in regards to his LEC team on League of Legends. Just two weeks after the start of the LEC 2022, Excel has decided to modify his starting fivedue to their poor performance of 2 wins in 5 games so far. As the kick-off of this third week of the season approaches, the British structure recruits Mikyx to the support position for the rest of the season.
Last October, Mikyx got benched at G2 along with the rest of the roster, made up of Rekkles, Wunder, GrabbZ and Nelson, and was actively looking for a new team. Rumors were born in mid-November, sending it to TSM for exampleto participate in the 2022 LCS season, at the post of Hu “SwordArt” Shuo-Chiehwho left the team last October but it didn’t happen, leaving the Slovenian the opportunity to join Excel.
Mikyx is back on the competitive scene on the side of Excel in LEC. The team had a mixed start to the season, winning only 2 of his 5 games and finding themselves at 6th place in the standings. Following this, the coaching staff decided to bench Henk “Advienne” ReijengaDutch, and replace it by the newcomer. Excel aims at least qualifying for the Spring Split playoffs, as recently announced on social networksso they hope that Mikyx at the support position will be a better solution for their training.
Advienne, the former support of Excel, communicated on this subject on social networks, being strongly affected by this news. He claims that this decision comes from management, without any dialogue with his former teammates, and without consulting him. This news, he learned on Sunday, he will no longer participate in the LEC this season and will be replaced by Mikyx. According to him, the decision was not impacted by his performance, or any other factor, it would be “purely commercial”.
This decision was made by management alone, without any open dialogue with my (now ex) teammates or any warning before the decision was made. This decision, as I was told, is NOT made based on performance issues, motivation issues, personality issues or anything else game related or not. This is a purely business decision.
Mikyx will meet again on the front of the competitive scene from January 28 since Excel will initially face MAD Lions then Astralis during this 3rd week of the LEC Spring Split 2022.
