Legal dispute reveals details: Werner probably signed with FC Bayern

Litigation reveals details
Werner probably signed with FC Bayern

Timo Werner is one of the best strikers in Germany. And those who are particularly good are usually hunted by FC Bayern. So it should have been in this case too. Even more, the national player is said to have already had a valid contract. The deal fell through – it just happened by chance.

Timo Werner apparently almost ended up at Bayern. However, not entirely voluntarily, reports the “Spiegel”. Accordingly, the striker signed a contract with the German record champions in the 2018/19 season, which was then canceled beforehand. As a result, he should have played in Munich from July 1, 2020.

Werner should not have signed completely voluntarily – now reveals an upcoming legal dispute between player advisor Karlheinz Förster and player agent Murat Lokurlu. The two are litigating “any claims from allegedly jointly carried out transactions”.

According to “Spiegel”, the trial files said: “At the plaintiff’s insistence – the player was not too enthusiastic about it – Timo Werner had already signed a fixed-term contract with Bayern Munich …”. Förster urged the striker to do so.

But then Werner learned that neither the then coach Niko Kovac nor sports director Hasan Salihamidzic endorsed the transfer. According to “Spiegel”, the then President and now Honorary President Ulli Hoeneß had arranged the deal. Because of the negative attitude of those responsible for sports Werner Förster “vehemently” asked to revoke the contract. It says in the files: “That is what happened.”

Werner was playing for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig at the time and moved to London on July 1, 2020 instead of Munich. The German national player, who is under contract with FC Chelsea, and FC Bayern Munich did not comment, according to the magazine. A lawyer Förster had announced that his client “in principle” does not urge customers to sign contracts.
