The How I Met Your Father series is back for a second season on Disney+. And a How I Met Your Father alum makes an appearance in new episodes of the spin-off.
Spin-off of How I Met Your Mother, the How I Met Your Father series is back for a second season on Disney+. This derivative show more or less takes up the mechanics of the original series and follows the tribulations of a group of friends in New York between their romantic, professional and family setbacks.
How I Met Your Father is told from a female point of view, that of Sophie, who is played by Hilary Duff, known in particular for her musical career and her role as Lizzie Maguire and her participation in Gossip Girl.
Among the interpreters of his band of friends, we find Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars, Private Practice, GLOW), Francia Raisa (The secret life of the ordinary teenager, Grown-ish), Suraj Sharma (Homeland), Tom Ainsley ( Versailles, The Royals) and Tien Tran (Space Force).
As in How I Met You Mother, it is the older version of the main protagonist who tells his offspring how he or she met the loved one. In How I Met Your Father, it’s the iconic Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones in Sex and the City), who plays the older version of Sophie and tells the story to her son.

In season 2, available from February 15 on Disney+, Sophie and her close-knit group of friends – made up of Jesse, Charlie, Ellen, Valentina and Sid – continue their New York adventures and still wonder about their romantic future. in the age of dating apps and nearly endless options.
As they fell into each other’s arms, Sophie and Jesse ultimately decided to go their separate ways when they became scared of their feelings for each other. The mythical character played by Neil Patrick Harris makes a fortuitous appearance in the first episode of season 2 of How I Met Your Father, during a car accident between Sophie and him, but we are made to understand that he is brought to come back in other episodes.
And he’ll have an important role in these new episodes, as co-creator Isaac Aptaker explained to TVLine : “As with Robin last year, we will learn more about Barney’s situation, but it will also have a major impact on the trajectory and main narrative of our season.”
Because Barney isn’t the first character from How I Met Your Mother to make an appearance in the spin-off. In the first season of How I Met Your Father, we had the pleasure of seeing Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), bartender Carl (Joe Nieves), The Captain (Kyle MacLachlan) and Becky (Laura Bell Bundy) again.
