Legislative 2022: Agnès Pannier-Runacher gives up being a candidate

The Minister Delegate for Industry hesitated to come to Pas-de-Calais. It is ultimately his companion who will wear the colors of the macronie in this stronghold of the RN.

She hesitated for a long time but Agnès Pannier-Runacher will not be a candidate in the legislative elections next June. The Minister Delegate in charge of Industry for a time assessed the advisability of running in a constituency of the Mining Basin, in particular the 3rd of Pas-de-Calais.

This early walker finally let it be known on Saturday that she “has decided not to be a candidate” in the legislative elections of June 12 and 19. “My commitment will not take the form of a candidacy for the legislative elections, but of a collective that I wish to constitute in the long term, for the mining basin and for its inhabitants”, said Agnès Pannier-Runacher in a statement posted on social networks. The Minister Delegate will specify the outlines “in the next weeks” while affirming now that it “wishes more than ever to continue to invest in Pas-de-Calais and in (his) city of Lens” where she recently moved.

RN stronghold

Agnès Pannier-Runacher was a candidate in the 2021 regional elections in Pas-de-Calais. In an ineligible position. The list obtained only 8.67% in the department, a stronghold of the RN.

It was his companion, Nicolas Bays, who was invested on Saturday by the macronist confederation “Together” in the 3rd district of Pas-de-Calais. Former PS deputy for the 12th district of Pas-de-Calais between 2012 and 2017, he is now chief of staff to the Minister of National Education.

The 3rd constituency of Pas-de-Calais was won in 2017 by José Evrard, with the FN label (now RN). Died in January, it was his deputy Emmanuel Blairy who replaced him in the National Assembly. During the second round of the presidential election, Marine Le Pen came out on top in Lens (57.99%).

Several ministers have announced that they will not be candidates for the legislative elections. A time quoted to wear the colors of macronie in the North, the Keeper of the Seals Éric Dupond-Moretti finally let it be known that he did not ask for an investiture. Same refusal from Marlène Schiappa, the Minister Delegate for Citizenship. In Hauts-de-Seine, the Secretary of State for Children and Families, Adrien Taquet, has chosen not to run for a second term. Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, did not want to run for a fourth term in the Eure in the name of the renewal of political life which he advocates. Elected deputy in 2017, the Minister Delegate for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari was not invested in Haute-Vienne. As for the Minister of Ecological Transition, Barbara Pompili, she is still reluctant to represent herself in the Somme.
