Legislative 2022: Éric Ciotti will be a candidate in the Alpes-Maritimes

The deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes has obtained the official support of the Republican party to stand for a new mandate as a deputy. Already elected to the legislative elections of 2007, 2012 and 2017, Éric Ciotti could achieve the pass of four.

The departmental committee of the Republicans of the Alpes-Maritimes has designated which will be the candidates for the next legislative elections on June 12 and 19.

Among them, we find Jean-Marc Macario (2nd district), mayor of Spéracèdes, Roger Roux (4th district), mayor of Beaulieu-sur-Mer and regional councilor for marinas, or even Alexandra Martin (8th district), departmental councilor of the Alpes-Maritimes and secretary general of the New Energy movement, which supports David Lisnard, the mayor of Cannes.

A fourth campaign

Éric Ciotti will be invested in his stronghold of the 1st district, located in the center and south of Nice, for a total of more than 130,000 inhabitants. This will be his fourth legislative campaign and the second under the LR banner, after having been elected twice under the UMP label.

Candidate for his own re-election, Éric Ciotti has represented the territory for 15 years in the National Assembly. In 2007 and 2012, he won against the socialist candidate Patrick Allemand (60.92%, then 60.73%), before winning against Caroline Reverso-Meinietti, invested by the Republic in March (56.21 %)

No Reconquest candidate against him

As previously announced by Éric Zemmour, no candidate from his Reconquest party will stand against Éric Ciotti. On social networks, the candidate who obtained 7% in the first round of the presidential election indicated that he wanted “national unity in action”.

Eric Ciotti’s goal will be to get up after his defeat in the second round of the Republican primaries, against Valérie Pécresse. Similarly, it will be a question of making people forget the low score of the party in the first round of the presidential election, which did not manage to exceed 5%.
