While the Socialist Party is currently negotiating with rebellious France for a left-wing alliance for the legislative elections, François Hollande, former President of the Republic and First Secretary of the party, has warned of the risk of the PS disappearing in the event of a electoral agreement.
Invited on the set of Franceinfo this Thursday, April 28, the former head of state judged that the disappearance of the Socialist Party was “unacceptable”, in particular because of what it “represents electorally in two thirds of the departments” .
Faced with this concern about seeing certain values fade away and be denied, François Hollande hoped that “this agreement will be reviewed and ironed out, so that the Socialized Party can consider another union with its other partners, ecologists and communists”.

A mandatory overhaul of the Socialist Party
Regardless of the strategy approached by the Socialist Party for the legislative elections, François Hollande felt that it would be essential to “refound the party”.
A reconstruction which, according to him, will have to be supported by “the network of local elected representatives” who “will have to invest in their party” in order “to become responsible and leaders”.
In this wish for an overhaul, François Hollande assured “not to seek anything personally”.
However, the former head of state promised to help “as much as possible”, without mentioning a specific role.
Asked about his possible candidacy for the legislative elections, François Hollande replied “not wanting to introduce this personal question into a debate which concerns the future of the left”.
