Legislative 2022: is there still time to register on the electoral lists?


On June 12 and 19, the French are invited to go to the polls again for the legislative elections. But to vote, you have to make sure you are registered on the electoral lists. If not, don’t panic, because you still have a few days to do so.

The presidential election has just given its verdict that the French must already prepare to return to the voting booth to vote. Indeed, the June 12 and 19 next will take place legislative elections. But to be able to vote, you must of course be registered on the electoral lists. If you haven’t already done so, you still have a few days to start the process.

First of all, if you were registered to vote during the Presidential, no doubt to have, you are also registered for the legislative ones. However, if you weren’t, you can still register. But you have until Wednesday, May 4 to do it online. To do so in town hall or by mail, the deadline is extended until Friday, May 6.

The steps are identical to those for registering on the electoral lists for the Presidential. Details of these can be found on the website. service-public.fr. On this same site, you can check if you are registered for the legislative elections. This will also allow you to know the address and number of your polling station, your national voter number, necessary to establish a power of attorney, and you will find there all the powers of attorney that you have already given or received.

French nationals living abroad can also register on the electoral lists

If you live abroad, you can of course vote for most French elections (election of advisers to French people living abroad, presidential, legislative, referendum, European) from abroad, but you must be registered on a consular electoral list. To do this, it will take provide proof “of your habitual residence in the consular district”, specifies the site of the public service. As in France, this registration can be done online or directly with the consulate or embassy of the country in which you live. In both cases, you will need to provide proof of identity, proof of residence and the completed and signed form, to be found here.
