Legislative 2022 Sandrine Rousseau, comfortably elected in the 9th district of Paris

The figure of ecofeminism was comfortably elected this Sunday in the 9th district of Paris with 58.05% of the vote. The Nupes candidate faced outgoing deputy Buon Tan (Together!), disavowed. With 42.90% of the vote Sandrine Rousseau already had a solid lead over her opponent (26.77%) in the first round of legislative elections.

It must be said that the 9th district of Paris, which includes a good part of the XIIIth arrondissement, is very anchored on the left. In the first round of the presidential election, Jean-Luc Mélenchon won 36.35% of the votes cast there, ahead of Emmanuel Macron (29.84%).

The nomination of Nupes and his place as a finalist in the environmental primary also benefited his candidacy. In recent months, Sandrine Rousseau has stood out for her feminist positions and her radical positioning within EELV. She had been excluded from Yannick Jadot’s campaign team for having criticized the strategy of the environmental candidate, which she denies.

In the first round, the Nupes candidate had to face another Sandrine Rousseau, invested by the Mouvement de la ruralité (in order to create confusion among voters) who had collected a few votes (1.88% in the first round ).

Formerly elected in the North, the parachuting of the environmental candidate in Paris will have been beneficial. And there is no doubt that she will be able to get noticed on the benches of the Assembly.
