Will or will not become Prime Minister? As the legislative elections are fast approaching, Jordan Bardella made a surprising statement this Monday. The MEP announced that he did not want Matignon if there was no absolute RN majority in the National Assembly. A statement which contrasts with the position of the president of the National Rally who has been repeating continuously for several days that he wishes to become the new head of government.

Before counterbalancing: “If tomorrow the French placed the country in a situation of relative majority, that is to say in a situation of deadlock with a Prime Minister who would not have an absolute majority in the National Assembly, he -even in a cohabitation situation, then we couldn’t change things.”
In the event of a relative majority, the Prime Minister “cannot act”

And he warns: “If we are in a situation of relative majority, as is the case in the country since the re-election of Emmanuel Macron in 2022, then the Prime Minister cannot act. I am not going to sell to the French measures or actions that I will not be able to carry out, I tell them the truth, but to act, I need an absolute majority,” he concludes.
