Legislative: Darmanin, Abad, Zemmour… Which personalities reach the second round?

It’s a decisive week ahead. Following the first round of legislative elections, Nupes and the coalition Ensemble! arrived neck and neck: 25.75% of the votes for the presidential majority, 25.66% for the united left. It is therefore a standoff that is launched between these two political alliances to convince new voters by June 19. And for the moment, the ministers involved are in a good position.

All ministers qualified for the second round

The new Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne is qualified and she has a good chance of winning, on a favorable ballot with 34% of the votes obtained in the first round, 10 points above her competitor from Nupes. In his northern constituency, Gérald Darmanin won nearly 40% of the vote and will face a candidate from the left alliance in the second round.

The former government spokesman, who became Minister Delegate for Public Accounts, Gabriel Attal, is also largely in the lead with 48% of the votes collected in the first round. A similar scenario for the Minister of Solidarity, at the heart of a controversy in recent weeks, Damien Abad, came out on top with 33% of the vote.

Gray mine for some ministers

However, some members of government did not fare as well. Like Amélie de Montchalin, Minister for the Ecological Transition, in an unfavorable ballot, coming second with 31% of the vote, seven points behind the candidate of Nupes, Jérôme Guedj.

The situation is just as uncomfortable for the Minister of Public Service, Stanislas Guerini, also boss of En Marche, who is six points behind the candidate of the left alliance. It is also an unfavorable waiver for Clément Beaune against the candidate of Nupes, Caroline Mécary.

End of the course for Jean-Michel Blanquer, Éric Zemmour…

As for the other political figures, the former Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, failed to qualify in the second round, collecting 18% of the votes behind Nupes and the National Rally. It is also a failure for the former housing minister, Emmanuelle Wargon.

End of course also for the ex-presidential candidate, Éric Zemmour, who came third in the Var, behind the outgoing deputy LREM and the candidate of the National Rally (RN). Two other figures of the Reconquest party are also eliminated: Guillaume Peltier in Loir-et-Cher and Stanislas Rigault in Vaucluse.

The president of the RN, Marine Le Pen collected 54% of the votes in the first round but due to the strong abstention, this percentage does not represent more than 25% of the registered ones. She will therefore be opposed in the second round to a candidate from the left alliance.
