Legislative: Éric Ciotti “unanimously” excluded from the Republicans after his proposed alliance with the RN

Eric Ciotti was unanimously excluded from LR on Wednesday, by a political office of the party in which he did not participate, the governance of the Gaullist movement now being ensured by MP Annie Genevard and François-Xavier Bellamy. “The Republicans will present candidates to the French with clarity and independence” for the legislative elections, assured Annie Genevard at the end of the meeting, while the National Investiture Commission was “renewed in its current form” , said the press release.

Éric Ciotti had the doors of LR headquarters closed

Twenty-four hours afterÉric Ciotti advocated an “alliance” with the National Rally, the crisis appears more acute than ever at LR, while the excluded president had first closed the doors of the Parisian headquarters of the party, forcing the political bureau to meet in rented premises nearby.

“We have a line to hold. We are capable of bringing together voters and we are capable tomorrow, in the National Assembly, of serving as a bulwark against (the) excesses which threaten France today,” declared François-Xavier Bellamy after the decision to exclude Eric Ciotti.

In the absence of clarification by Sunday, there could be two LR candidates in certain constituencies, some supported by the political office; others by Éric Ciotti and by extension, the National Rally. This type of imbroglio could end up being resolved in summary proceedings by the courts.
