A political office that has “no legal value”

As a reminder, Éric Ciotti sparked an outcry on the right on Tuesday by announcing his desire for an alliance with the National Rally for the legislative elections. Several party leaders have publicly called for his resignation and his exclusion from the Republicans. The situation is quite funny since all the employees found themselves outside, some with a few things under their arms. Éric Ciotti will not be present at his party’s political office on Wednesday afternoon. He notably contests the validity of the meeting of this office, convened by his number 2 Annie Genevard late Tuesday, “in flagrant violation of our statutes”, he wrote in a press release. The deputy for Alpes-Maritimes argues in particular that the body can only meet at the request of the “president of the movement”, “or at the initiative of a quarter of the members of the National Council, on a specific agenda, in the conditions set by the internal regulations. According to him, the political bureau convened on Wednesday at 3 p.m. “has no legal value”.
