Legislative elections 2022case

Jérôme Lambert was targeted by EE-LV and LFI, but also among roses, for opposing marriage for all and the extension of PMA. Olivier Faure finally decided, without any party executive taking up the defense of the outgoing elected representative of Charente.

The ax fell on Wednesday for Jérôme Lambert: the boss of the PS, Olivier Faure, announced to Stubborn that the outgoing socialist deputy from Charente would not be reinvested under the Nupes label. In question, Lambert’s past votes against marriage for all and his opposition to the PMA for all or his repeated remarks on filiation, which have ulcerated more than one at EE-LV and LFI. But also among the pink executives, like the party spokesperson, Gabrielle Siry-Houari, who had publicly indicated “have a problem with the nomination” of the one who has been elected almost continuously since 1986.

According to our information, Olivier Faure himself therefore decided not to support him for an eighth term and warned him by telephone before announcing it publicly. And the internal formalization obviously did not bother anyone in the party, of which Lambert is no longer a member (simply related to their group in the Assembly). During the presentation of the first wave of 56 national office nominations on Tuesday evening, his name was absent and “there was no intervention to support it”says a manager, who specifies: “There was no discussion at all. There was a reading of all the nominations and then interventions, but not on this case. Another pink leader confirms: “There was no opposition.”

“No anticipation”

Why then did it seem set to be reinvested? “He is very established and there was no real anticipation of this situation to prepare anything else on our side”unrolls our first source, according to which “the criterion of outgoing elected officials had made him enter the scheme of people to be renewed” automatically.

Problem, it will now be necessary to invest someone else on this circo devolved to the PS in the agreement with the Nupes. “We will find a replacement”promises a leader, when another seems less reassured: “Now we have to find a solution…” And Lambert seems determined to maintain his dissent, promising to Free Charente that “the union will be made in the second round”.
