The Observatory of sexist and sexual violence in politics denounced his investiture. Sunday May 15, the Walkers of Terrasson and Sarlat (two towns located in the 4^and constituency targeted by Jérôme Peyrat) announced in a press release that they would not support the candidate invested by their party in the legislative elections, reports The Parisian.

The two committees express their “dismay” with regard to the presidential party and Emmanuel Macron himself, who had nevertheless made violence against women the great cause of the first five-year term. They also explain that they support outgoing MP Jacqueline Dubois if she “legitimately came to represent herself”.

If, at the local level, the investiture of Jérôme Peyrat makes a lot of noise, Mediapart reports that the judgment condemning the LREM candidate from Dordogne did not arouse many reactions at the national level on the side of the presidential majority. As a reminder, the politician was sentenced in September 2020 by the Angoulême criminal court after an argument in the car with his ex-girlfriend, who had been prescribed a 14-day ITT period.
