Legislative: influencer Squeezie commits “against the extreme right”

Squeezie, the second most followed YouTuber in France (19 million subscribers), warned against “a drastic rise of the extreme right” and called on “the young people who follow him” to vote in the legislative elections, in a message on Instagram Friday.

“Go vote on June 30 and July 7, and keep in mind that voting for a party that advocates hatred, discrimination, and fear of others has never been a solution,” he wrote to its approximately 8.7 million subscribers on the social network. “The RN will not help you,” he also warned.

Real name Lucas Hauchard, Squeezie, 28, is usually very discreet about his political opinions. But after the result of the European elections and the announcement of the legislative elections, many fans demanded on social networks a position from this very popular content creator.

More than 400,000 likes in one hour

“I never wanted to talk to you about politics (…) because everyone is the master of their convictions and I do not want mine to influence yours,” he wrote. “But I think that strongly opposing an extreme ideology that advocates hatred and discrimination goes beyond taking any political stance.”

In this long message posted on his “xsqueezie” account, he denounces “the dangers and serious consequences of the arrival of an extreme right party in power” and castigates the “intensive propaganda supported by certain media”.

“So yes, in recent years the RN has succeeded in smoothing out its image and pretending that it is not a far-right party,” he emphasizes, before adding: “there is no shame for falling for it.” “It is never too late to reconsider things and change your thinking,” he pleaded. An hour after it was posted online, his message had more than 400,000 likes.
