Jordan Bardella called on Friday for “appeasement”, on the eve of a weekend of demonstrations against the far right, arguing “that democracy cannot be contested to the point of refusing the results of the ballot boxes” and by designating the “New Popular Front” as its main opponent in the legislative elections. “These calls for rebellion, these calls for insurrection, these calls to challenge the functioning of French democracy appear extremely dangerous to me,” continued the boss of the RN during a trip to the Loiret, saying “ very attached to freedom of expression, to democracy.
“There can be mobilizations, demonstrations. They must be without violence. And all this must obviously be done peacefully. But once again, there are elections and the French must express themselves legitimately, normally and serenely in the framework of the elections”, he added, calling on “all political groups, including left-wing groups (…) to call on everyone to appeasement”. Jordan Bardella, expected to sit in Matignon in the event of his party’s victory in the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7, also estimated that the “New Popular Front”, a left-wing coalition which notably brings together LFI, PCF, EELV and PS, was his “main adversary”.
“I think the question will not arise”
“There are two political groups which will win these legislative elections and which will be able to form a government, it is La France insoumise and all of its left-wing allies behind Jean-Luc Mélenchon, or it is the alliance between the Republicans and the National Rally”, he considered. Asked about his position regarding duels which would pit the Macronist camp against this new left-wing alliance in the second round, “I would not choose”, assured the boss of the RN.
“I think that the question will not arise and that most of the second rounds will probably see Republican deputies with a capital R facing the engineers of chaos that are today the friends of Jean-Luc Mélenchon “, he further estimated.
