Legislative: the PCF invests its 50 candidates, including Fabien Roussel

The Communist Party invested 50 candidates in the legislative elections of June 12 and 19, including its leader and former presidential candidate Fabien Roussel in the North, after the agreement reached with the rebellious in the new alliance on the left. After his 2.28% in the first round of the presidential election, Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the PCF and outgoing deputy, is aiming for re-election in the 20th district of the North, in Saint-Amand-les-Eaux.

These outgoing Communists reinvested

Many outgoing are reinvested, including the current president of the communist group in the Assembly André Chassaigne in Puy-de-Dôme, Elsa Faucillon in Hauts-de-Seine, Sébastien Jumel, Jean-Paul Lecoq and Hubert Wulfranc in Seine -Maritime, Stéphane Peu in Seine-Saint-Denis, Alain Bruneel in the North and Pierre Dharréville in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Former Minister of Sports Marie-George Buffet has decided to leave her place in the 4th district of Seine-Saint-Denis where she will be substitute for Soumya Bourouaha.

“I have just celebrated my 73 years, it seems necessary and logical to me to hand over”, explains to AFP this figure of the PCF, presidential candidate in 2007. Same configuration for the outgoing Jean-Paul Dufrègne, simple substitute in the Allier, for the benefit of Yannick Monnet. Céline Malaisé, regional councilor for Ile-de-France, is running in the very difficult 12th district of Paris (7th and 15th arrondissements of Paris).

Hitches with the agreement with LFI

The agreement with LFI within the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) has caused some problems, particularly in the constituency of Vénissieux in the Rhône, where the PCF hoped for the investiture of the communist mayor Michèle Picard. But LFI has invested a new rebellious candidate, Idir Boumertit, despite the withdrawal of journalist Taha Bouhafs, the subject of an internal investigation after accusations of sexual violence. Overseas candidates are not included in this list.

For its part, the Socialist Party has completed the list of its 70 nominations, with a new series of 17 names. Among them, it is Marie-Pierre Noël who will run in the 3rd constituency of Charente, confirming the ousting of outgoing deputy Jérôme Lambert, challenged by EELV and LFI in particular for his vote against marriage for all.
