LEGO celebrates diversity and launches ‘everyone’s awesome’

Famous Danish company LEGO has revealed a brand new rainbow-colored set to celebrate the LGBTQIA + community.

Celebrate diversity!

The Lego Group, is one of the world’s leading toy manufacturers. On Thursday, May 20, 2021, the company announces the release of a new set of its famous rainbow-colored plastic bricks to celebrate the LGBTQIA + community and the diversity of its fans.

Inspired by the rainbow flag used as a symbol of love and acceptance by the LGBTQIA + community, the construction kit “Everyone is awesome” fits into a display model defending inclusiveness through its 11 monochrome figurines, each with their own hairstyle and color.

“I wanted to create a model that symbolizes inclusiveness and celebrates everyone, no matter who they are or who they love.” Its creator, Matthew Ashton, vice-president of the Danish group in charge of design, explained in a press release.

“Being part of the LGBTQIA + community (lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, intersex and asexual) myself, I knew I had to take responsibility” he asserted.

“Everyone is awesome” is also a very personal tribute to the experiences of Matthew Ashton working at the LEGO Group, and is intended as a celebration not only of the LGBTQIA + community among fans of the brand, but also among its employees.

“I am fortunate to be a proud, supportive and passionate community of colleagues and fans”, continued the creator. “We share the love for creativity and self-expression through LEGO bricks and this set is a way to show my gratitude for all the love and inspiration that is constantly being shared.

The set of 346 pieces will be launched on LEGO.com and in LEGO stores June 1, the first day of Pride month.
