LEGO Star Wars: A discreet but thoughtful tribute to Carrie Fisher

Legendary interpreter of Princess Leia Organa, Carrie Fisher will have held its role until the end to the delight of the fans. With her pungent humor and her worked cynicism, she did not have her tongue in her pocket when she was invited on a TV set or gave an interview.

That being said, the game developers LEGO Star Wars rather wanted to pay him a somewhat ironic tribute by referring to a filming anecdote that dates from his debut. At that time, the actress may not have had the insurance that has since been attributed to her…

Does Carrie Fisher have a trembling voice?

The greatest fans of the Skywalker epic who have watched “Star Wars IV – A New Hope“in the original version dozens of times might know: during the opening scene, when Leia is talking with Moff Tarkin in the Death Star, she takes on a strange British accent. The actress being American and the character not having been specially written to have a particular elocution, the situation is strange. Especially since the more we advance in the film (and in the sequels), the more his accent becomes American again.

The reason ? Carrie Fisher would have been so nervous during filming that his voice would have accidentally veered towards this curious British accent. Even if no official explanation has ever been given, it is this one that we retain today. Some people, however, want to give the actress more credit and claim that if she speaks this way only in this scene, it is because her opponent has a real British accent and that Princess Leia laughs at him imitating his voice.

We will probably never have the end of this story, so you are free to choose the reason you prefer!

What does it have to do with the LEGO game?

We can salute the attention to detail of the developers who have squarely introduced this anecdote into their game. When you launch an assault on the scenario “A New Hope” Game, if you play in English by activating voiceovers and you have good hearing, you’ll find that Leia starts out speaking with a British accent, and after escaping the Death Star, she’ll have an American accent.

It’s certainly not a big deal and ultimately quite a few players are likely to notice it for themselves, but it is precisely this desire to leave nothing out that makes LEGO games fun. From fun easter eggsmore or less fine allusions to the original work in taking into account the same that exist on it, and the respect for the basic creation despite the layer of parody: that’s what we want to see!

The LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga launch trailer has just been released and this is an opportunity for us to remind you of three good reasons to fall for this compilation of the franchise’s nine films.
