Lego trial – penalty tripled by the Graz Higher Regional Court

The young Klagenfurt native wanted to get rich with Lego – but it went wrong: Within a short time he built half a million euros minus through fraud, for which he now has to sit for three years!

Photos from Florence, Venice, Paris: The young man from Klagenfurt, who made headlines as a Lego fraudster, apparently had a good time after his release in June – at least that’s what social media posts suggest. The almost 23-year-old had caused more than half a million euros in damage when he cashed for Lego, but ultimately only delivered playing sand due to lack of money.

judge Ute Lambauer let him get away with it very lightly – with one year that had been served in custody and a remaining sentence on probation. The Graz Higher Regional Court has now tightened the judgment considerably. “Absolutely three years,” says the spokeswoman Elisabeth Dieber. “The decisive factor for this decision were the long period of the offense and the commissioning of the crime, although investigations were already pending.”
