The corona pandemic will not allow the Leipzig Book Fair to take place in 2021 either. The organizers have now announced this.

As in 2020, the Leipzig Book Fair will not be able to take place as planned this year. Actually, this should be held in conjunction with the Manga-Comic-Con, Leipzig reads and the 27th Leipzig Antiquarian Book Fair from May 27th to 30th. With a heavy heart, however, the operators have now decided to cancel the events.

The reason given by the managing director of Leipziger Messe, Martin Buhl-Wagner: "The severe course of the pandemic leaves us (…) no choice. An event with more than 100,000 guests cannot take place if health is guaranteed and given the current legal situation. " As an alternative program, live readings are now planned "at selected locations in Leipzig in order to bridge the waiting time until the Leipzig Book Fair in March 2022," it continues. Details on this should be announced in due course.
