Citrus fruits give every dish a refreshing, summery touch. Now they have become an integral part of fashion. Whether lemon yellow or lemon print – both bring a breath of fresh air and dolce vita flair to our wardrobe. The fresh color is totally on trend and still looks elegant and timeless – and not just on young women.

Lemon print: The fashion trend of late summer

The lemon print, once the flagship of the summer-Mediterranean style, is also very trendy this year and was worn up and down the catwalks during Fashion Week. Jill Biden wears the print discreetly, her dress is light blue and printed with lemon tree branches and lemon fruits

Whether interpreted in a modern way or classic, the lemon print remains a synonym for summer joys, laughter under the sun and the unmistakable charm of the Mediterranean. A timeless design that always reminds us of the sweet art of Italian life – and what more could we want in late summer?

The lively hustle and bustle of the Amalfi Coast, the glittering waves of the Mediterranean and fragrant lemon groves – for many people, this is the essence of Italy. Italian designers were inspired by the picturesque landscape of the Italian coast and captured not only the flair but also the soul of “Dolce Vita” with the lemon print.

The carefree, sunny days of the Mediterranean are symbolized by the bright yellow of lemons – a color that can be found in summer dresses, swimsuits and even tablecloths and tableware since the 1960s.

Now the fruity color is experiencing a revival: on shoes and headscarves or on earrings. And for the brave ones out there: combine lemon yellow with bright colors like royal blue, violet or the trendy colors green and lilac.

Lemon yellow: For everyone who can’t get enough of summer

The color lemon yellow appears everywhere, from shoes to headscarves to earrings. And for the brave ones out there: combine lemon yellow with bright colors like royal blue, violet or the trendy colors green and lilac.

Who does it look particularly good on?

Not all yellow is created equal, especially when it comes to our wardrobe. While Frauke Ludowig combines two different shades of yellow to make her shine, Kelly Rutherford chooses a lighter pastel yellow. But how do you know which color suits you best? The answer to the mystery often lies in the undertone of our skin. If you have a warm complexion with golden or olive shades, you can count yourself lucky: yellow usually suits you perfectly. Be brave and choose strong yellow tones. They give you additional radiance. Yellow makes pale skin shine and you automatically appear more awake, fresher and younger.

However, for cool skin tones that have bluish or rosy hues, yellow can sometimes be a bit too light. Yellow tones that are too soft could make you look pale. But don’t worry, a vibrant lemon yellow is always a safe choice and flatters most of us.

If you don’t really dare or yellow doesn’t suit you that much but you just love the color, just paint your nails in this tone.

You can also choose a gentler dose of color, such as applying yellow nail polish, wearing yellow accessories, or choosing yellow pants instead of a yellow top. This is further away from your face and hair color and inhibits the effect of a supposedly inappropriate shade of yellow in combination with your complexion and hair.
