The new application from the owner of TikTok, called Lemon8, has just arrived in the United States and the United Kingdom, displaying without complexes some similarities with a certain Instagram, even Pinterest.

While it is frankly not in the odor of sanctity among our British neighbors or across the Atlantic, the ByteDance group, owner of the most downloaded application in the world TikTok, has more than one asset up its sleeve. The Chinese company has, quite discreetly, but not without ambition, posted a new application, Lemon8, on American and British app stores.

Lemon8, a very “lifestyle” social network

Even if we find a trace of it on the Google Play Store and the App Store, the Lemon8 application is not yet downloadable in France. However, the few visuals we were able to access via the web pages of the two stores give us a more or less precise idea of what this new social network offers.

Here’s how Lemon8 is described in the About the App section: ” Lemon8 is a content sharing platform with a young community. This is where you can experience beautiful, authentic, and diverse content. It is THE destination for sharing and discovery “.

At first glance, we are heading here towards an Instagram in form, and a Pinterest in substance. Lemon8 promises to highlight content related to the worlds of fashion, food, makeup, pets, travel, well-being, health and household or everyday products. A vast world with strong marketing potential.

Fundamentals from TikTok well present

Lemon8, although inspired by competing platforms, also incorporates certain elements that make TikTok successful, such as the engine or the news feed For You, “Pour toi” in French, which offers personalized content recommendations to users. Its tab dedicated to research is clearly inspired by Instagram, with sub-tabs top, accounts, hashtags and posts.

If the visuals available are focused around the photo, the video promises to be an important part of Lemon8 as well. And like any good self-respecting social network, the famous stickers, filters and text additions will be there to maximize engagement around the content and the personalization of the latter.

To find a place in the sun and be quickly attractive, the little sister of TikTok has been contacting marketing companies for several days, via ByteDance, to convince creators to come to the platform. The Chinese company therefore does not despair of being able to impose itself in the West and in Anglo-Saxon countries, despite the successive threats of banishment from its river platform, TikTok.

Interesting detail ?

If Lemon8 is a subsidiary of ByteDance, the company that propels the application on the stores, Heliophilia Pte. Ltd., is registered in Singapore, where it was officially incorporated on May 25, 2022, according to our findings.
