Lena Meyer-Landrut is one of the most successful artists in Germany – now she spoke in an interview about the downsides of her early career.

“Just for fun” Lena Meyer-Landrut, 30, signed up for Stefan Raab’s casting show “Unser Star für Oslo” in 2009, which after years of flops was finally looking for a worthy participant for the “Eurovision Song Contest”. The student convinced immediately. In 2010, a high school graduate became a star overnight: The then 19-year-old Lena Meyer-Landrut won the “Eurovision Song Contest” with the title “Satellite” and started a lightning career. She lived a life in the limelight. However, she has given up a lot for this, as she revealed in an interview with the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND)”.

Comeback as a judge on “The Voice Kids”

The singer now rarely gives interviews, now she made an exception. The reason for this is her participation as a judge in the seventh season of the talent show “The Voice Kids”. At the age of 21, the ESC winner rated the young talents in the singing show. But today, at the age of 30, she sees her task on the jury with different eyes. While she was “simply happy to be able to be a coach” and absolutely “wanted to win with the kids”, Lena is calmer and more considered today. Her understanding of her job has changed. “It’s a bit disenchanting – but at the same time that makes it a bit more magical for the children,” she emphasizes in the interview.

Lena Meyer-Landrut knows the feeling of missing something

The singer not only looks back on her beginnings as a juror, but also remembers her youthful past, which was probably very different from what the 30-year-old would have wanted for herself. “I can say for myself that my twenties felt similar to a very long Corona phase – in terms of experiences, parties and testing your own limits,” she sums up. For fear of paparazzi lurking around every corner just waiting to catch Lena in an awkward situation, she held back, “didn’t even allow herself many things” that “she would probably have tried otherwise.” “That’s why I can understand the feeling of missing something very well,” she admits in an interview.

WG parties, club nights, cocktail evenings – in order not to attract negative attention in the media, Lena Meyer-Landrut has done without many things that are fun at a young age. Mainly for self-defense. The musician talks about a time when she “was very sad about it”.

The singer uses social media differently now

Lena Meyer-Landrut’s life has changed. Today, the 30-year-old makes conscious decisions without regretting them. The singer knows what she wants. She consciously sets her limits, is calmer in public and is no longer constantly on social media, as she revealed in an interview with “Stern”. “I use Instagram differently today than I used to. I want to tell stories that are happening in my life right now, but only when I feel like it. Like new projects or new albums, for example. Then I want to share my thoughts with my community .”

The ESC winner chooses her posts more consciously and refrains from being constantly present on social media. “I no longer have the pressure to post that I used to have. It’s been three weeks since my last post, but I don’t focus so much on it anymore – I’ve become much more relaxed with it,” says Lena. And the artist no longer allows herself to be pigeonholed. “Today I don’t care what anyone has heard about me. I don’t meet people the way I used to. My need to live up to expectations is becoming less and less. I feel much better with this attitude.”
