The world’s leading PC seller in 2024, Lenovo maintains its number 4 position in touch tablets, accounting for 7% of this market in the first quarter of 2024, an increase of 13.2% in one year. According to the IDC firm, which provides these statistics, affordable tablets represent 80% of sales in question. It is therefore logical that the Chinese brand is banking on a product priced at less than €300 to attract entertainment enthusiasts, just before summer. No Tab P therefore – these series representing the top of the range from Lenovo – but a Tab Plus.

The tablet plays the design card, and will undoubtedly remind connoisseurs of more advanced models, which have made Lenovo’s reputation in the world of tablets. With its bulge hiding eight speakers (four tweeters, four woofers), the Tab Plus undoubtedly refers to the Yoga Tab 13 of 2021 and, even further, to the Yoga Smart Tab of 2019, tablets which also hid speakers in a protuberance located at their lower part, but also a kickstand. If the Tab Plus does not retain its premium orientation, it nevertheless displays the JBL stamp, regularly used for the audio part of Lenovo products. It also has an application dedicated to audio settings which, the brand promises, is capable of automatically managing the sound volume depending on the application used.

A tablet designed for entertainment

Intended to act as an additional screen on vacation, for example, the Tab Plus is equipped with an 11.5-inch LCD screen, offering 2K definition and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. You should not expect any performance worthy of a game console, the tablet embedding a Helio G99 chip from MediaTek, chipset rather modest, engraved in 6 nm and seen in smartphones such as Samsung’s Galaxy A15 4G or Xiaomi’s Poco M5. On the other hand, we note storage of up to 256 GB and the possibility of expanding it via a microSD card, which is suitable for its very multimedia use. Lenovo also equips its Tab Plus with an 8600 mAh battery compatible with 45 W charging, and a StandBy mode which allows it to be transformed into a digital frame if necessary.

The Tab Plus is announced at a price of €279 and available now. A price certainly contained, but which comes up against solid competition, since the very efficient Xiaomi Pad 6 is in the same price range. It will remain to be seen, during a test in our laboratories, whether its audio performance allows it to stand out on the entry-level slate market.
