Lenovo expands its series of laptops ThinkBook Plus with the Twist model, equipped with a reversible double screen: on one side OLED, on the other e-ink.

The Chinese manufacturer thus offers the double benefit of a pretty OLED screen, but energy-consuming, and a more modest and economical e-ink screen, depending on the needs.

the Plot Twist from Lenovo

Lenovo is full of new ideas for its devices and offers us here a certain twist in the small world of laptops. Thus arrives the ThinkBook Plus Twist, which has the advantage of offering two screens in one.

On one side, we have a 13.3″ 2.8K OLED touchscreen display with up to 60Hz, 400nits refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. On the other, its reversible counterpart is a 12″ e-ink panel, also tactile, but this time accompanied by a fairly low refresh rate of 12 Hz.

As a reminder, e-ink technology is intended to be particularly economical, with microparticles continuing to display the same image until the screen is refreshed. In this case, 12 Hz seems an acceptable compromise.

A double-hatted laptop

Under the hood, we find in particular an Intel 13 processore generation, up to 16 GB of RAM and an M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD up to 1 TB. Everything is powered by Windows as an operating system, as well as a 56 Wh battery. Lenovo says it can reach a maximum battery life of 21 hours using the e-ink display. Autonomy using the OLED part has not been specified, but will inevitably be reduced.

On the connection side, we have two USB-C 4 Thunderbolt ports and a 3.5 mm jack. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi will of course be included. We can also note the presence of a 1080p webcam with closing shutter, crowning the OLED screen. A fingerprint reader and two microphones complete the set.

In any case, the concept is intriguing and offers great versatility. The e-ink screen can thus be used for office and professional tasks, while ensuring better battery life. For leisure and other uses, the greedy OLED screen (which could have benefited from a better refresh rate) will do its job perfectly.

The price of this plot twist by Lenovo? About 1,500 euros excluding taxes, all the same! Anyway, this new model of the ThinkPad Plus family should deploy its two screens in June 2023.
